On Monday March 8, 2010 OWIG hosted a Caucus Lunch during the Momentum 2010 Women's Conference. The luncheon was about networking and was a great success! Alyssa Grovemiller, OWIG Steering Committee Member, Jodi Kessler, OWIG Vice President, and Catherine Scheller, OWIG President, presented. Here is an information sheet about the do's and don'ts for professional networking on the internet and below are the websites that were mentioned.
Social networking sites for professionals:
- Ryze- Allows you to network to grow your business, build your career and life, find a job, and make sales
- Classmates.com - Work and Careers
- Alumni.net - school and organization connections
- iMantri.com - online mentoring community
- networkingforprofessionals.com - has face-to-face events in selected cities and members expect to contact each other via phone or e-mail
Message Boards:
- Most professional organizations now have message board communities
- Find a general or special interest board that you like
- Pink Magazine Community - articles and resources for professional women. Also includes forums, blogs, a job board, etc.
- Google Groups - search for discussion groups in your current or potential career field
